Poems

Pride and prejudice

I must strive
Not to be
Prejudiced
Against those
Who did not earn
Their good luck

I must not let their
Unearned luck
Force a distance
In my appreciation
Of their works
When I have their luck to thank for
Their art
Their science
Their thought

I hope others
Will not be
Prejudiced
Against those of us
Who did not earn
Our bad luck

As said one
Who seemed to’ve had about the same
Of each

Unless I discover the alchemical trick
Of turning this muck into gold
I am lost
